45 Caliber Weapons

A 45 caliber weapon uses ammunition that measures approximately .45 inches in diameter. One of the most widely used forms of a .45 caliber weapon is the semi automatic pistol which uses that caliber of ammunition.

Some 45 caliber ammunition is known to cause hydrostatic shock, which results form the wound caused by automatic pistols. However, 45 caliber ammunition is thought to be highly effective, simply because of its ability to cause wounds of a large diameter. In addition, 45 caliber ammunition can penetrate easily and reliably, even through some protective gear.

This type of ammunition is known to be reliable in taking out targets, especially when the shot is meant to be lethal. These weapons may be utilized in military conflicts, as well as by some law enforcement officers.

The diameter of the ammunition causes large wounds and the bullets easily penetrate the skin and go through hard bone. However, the weapons used to handle this type of ammunition do not tend to be as large as those required for 50 caliber bullets. In addition, these weapons are not as heavy, which means that the ammunition is highly effective, while reducing the need for a heavy and large weapon.

While the weight and size of weapon used to handle 45 caliber ammunition, must be larger than most, it is not as prohibitive as the 50 caliber weapon.
