A student at the University of North Florida has reportedly filed a
lawsuit against the University for banning guns that are stored in cars parked on the school’s campus.
The lawsuit, which was filed by student Alexandria Lainez and a Second
Amendment group called Florida Carry, states that the school is citing its right to ban guns from being stored in parked vehicles on the campus’ lots, just as a Florida public school district could.
The University of North Florida; however, falls outside this exemption because it is a state University and not a local school district, according to Lainez’s suit.
According to the university’s guidelines, “possession, storage or use” of firearms are prohibited on campus
property or at university-sponsored events.
